Louvain centre for Toxicology and Applied Pharmacology (LTAP) is located at Université Catholique de Louvain in Brussels, Belgium and serves as the lead institute for ICONS. Professor Dominique Lison serves as the project coordinator of ICONS along with coordination manager Dr. Sybille van den Brule. Researchers at LTAP were among the first to report on the respiratory toxicity of MWCNT in rats and have built an established expertise for investigating physico-chemical determinants of MWCNT toxicity. Researchers at LTAP have worked on experimental tests with MWCNT for more than 10 years, and have developed reliable and robust in vitro and in vivo bioassays to assess different endpoints, including lung fibrosis. Publications by the LTAP lab have largely contributed to characterizing the effects of MWCNT on the respiratory system and their toxicity mechanisms.
